FLW's Norwich City fan pundit feels that Kellen Fisher is worth a lot more than the reported £5 million bid that Hull City tabled

Norwich City are building a squad set to challenge for promotion in Philippe Clement's first full season in charge, and that includes Kellen Fisher at right-back.

The England under-21 international has been a first-team regular at Carrow Road for a couple of seasons now, and has made 102 appearances for the Canaries, despite only just turning 22 back in May.

Fisher started all but one league game under Clement after he arrived in mid-November, and he'll evidently be one of the first names on the team sheet as the Belgian boss looks to oversee a return to the Premier League for Norwich in his first full year.

But newly promoted Hull City have looked to fast-track that step-up to top-flight football for the 22-year-old, who reportedly bid £5 million for him on Tuesday, a bid that was swiftly rejected by the Canaries.

Not only have Norwich profiled the former Bromley full-back as one for the future, but he'll have an incredibly important part to play in the present, and it will definitely take a large sum to pry him away from Carrow Road this summer.

Fisher has been named in multiple of Lee Carsley's England under-21s squads in recent international windows, which highlights how bright a future he has.

FLW's Norwich fan pundit, Zeke Downes, therefore feels that if the Canaries are even going to consider letting the 22-year-old leave this summer, Hull will have to pay a lot more than the £5 million they reportedly tabled earlier in the week.

"I think the fact that we've not even mentioned that a bid has occurred means that they're probably a bit insulted by the offer because it is very low," he said.

"It's nowhere near the amount we'd accept, especially at this point, with the season not too far away and given that he'd be our starting right-back.

"If we were ever to let him go, it would have to be more like £10 million, even closer to £15 million I'd say."

Norwich have quite a settled squad at this stage of pre-season, with their campaign kicking off on August 8 when they host MK Dons in the first round of the EFL Cup. They then welcome West Brom to Carrow Road to begin their league campaign the weekend after.

Over two weeks ago, Philippe Clement stated that he wasn't looking to do many more transfers, so needing to bring in a new starting right-back wouldn't be an ideal scenario, especially one so highly-rated.

"He's young, English, has played a lot of Championship matches already, and he's a regular in England under-21 squads as well," Downes continued.

"So I think Hull would have to at least double, if not triple, their bid for us to actually even think about letting it happen."

As the fan pundit alluded to, Norwich haven't acknowledged that a bid came in to be rejected.

In fact, following a goalless draw in pre-season against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday, Philippe Clement said that no bid had even been made, and put the rumours down to there being "not much interesting stories" during pre-season.

Furthermore, Hull's owner, Acun Ilicali, tweeted on X how he had read "dozens of false rumours" and was "disturbed by the claims that [they] had been rejected." His transfer update with national flags as clues had no Englishmen on there, either, so perhaps the reports of the £5 million bid being rejected are among those "false rumours."

Clement would go on to say in the same interview that nobody he views as a starting player is for sale, and Fisher, who started the most league games out of any outfielder in the Norwich side last season, is the definition of a starting player.

If Hull are indeed interested, they are definitely going to need to up their bid if they are to stand any chance of bringing Fisher to the Premier League. Regardless of whether the Tigers are or not, a hefty asking price could see them turn their attention elsewhere, easing Norwich's worries.
