Nottingham Forest have made an initial inquiry to Wolverhampton Wanderers about Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to The Telegraph. It follows Chris Wood being ruled out well into the new year after knee surgery.

Bild claims Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche will hold further talks with owner Evangelos Marinakis over Arnaud Kalimuendo, with a loan including an option to buy under discussion. The Frenchman is said to be open to moving, with Paris FC, Roma and VfB Stuttgart credited with interest.

With the window open until February 2, this is Sean Dyche’s first chance to adjust his squad, though he has stressed the club are unlikely to be busy.

A summer outlay of upwards of £180million means a more restrained approach is expected, but with a relegation fight looming Dyche must ensure resources are in place.

Forest could face competition from Crystal Palace for the 25-year-old, who is valued at about £40million. West Ham United have been deterred by the price.

In Wood’s absence, Igor Jesus has become first choice up front. The Brazilian has scored seven goals since joining from Botafogo, but only one has come in the Premier League.

Taiwo Awoniyi has also been linked with a return to Germany, with former club Mainz 05 said to have him on their radar.
