Nottingham Forest are said to have turned down a bid of more than £17m for defender Morato as they prioritise incomings on deadline day.
According to Sky Sports, Wolfsburg offered £17.3m (€20m) for the 24-year-old, but Forest declined as they do not intend to sell defenders today.
The focus is on adding players before the window shuts at seven pm. A deal for left-back Luca Netz from Borussia Monchengladbach is close, with a midfielder and a striker also on the list, and significant exits are not expected.
Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo remain the first-choice centre-back pairing. Morato has featured from the bench in the Premier League, including Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, and has had regular Europa League minutes.
Asked about notable departures, head coach Sean Dyche said they are highly unlikely unless the club chooses otherwise and that Forest have control over any such calls.
Forest want cover and competition across the pitch as they work to secure Premier League survival and aim to go far in Europe. Dyche said the club are being linked with many players, he knows of two or three, but there is no guarantee any will arrive or that all would be signed.
