Nottingham Forest sign Liam Delap from Chelsea in £50m deal | OneFootball

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £50m, giving Oliver Glasner his leading striker target. According to Nottingham Post, the forward has agreed a five-year contract at the City Ground.

Delap will wear the No. 19 and adds to Forest’s options alongside Chris Wood, Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimendo.

He made 47 appearances for Chelsea last season after arriving from Ipswich Town the previous summer, though it proved a difficult first campaign at Stamford Bridge. Before that move he was Ipswich’s top scorer with 12 goals in their first top-flight season for 22 years.

Delap said he cannot wait to get started at a club he views as having a big history. He praised Glasner’s approach, felt it can aid his development and said he hopes to bring goals, adding that he looks forward to the City Ground noise and wants the team to challenge to be a top Premier League club.

Chief Football Officer George Syrianos described Delap as a top talent they have tracked for some time and said the club are delighted to bring him in. He highlighted the striker’s experience at different levels, his hunger to improve and his wish to make an immediate impact.
