Nottingham Forest still have work to do to land Lorenzo Lucca, with the striker yet to approve a switch to the City Ground. A loan with an option to buy is said to be in place between clubs, but the player is thought to favour staying in Italy.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lucca is unsure about the move and wants assurances over a leading role for the rest of the season. Adding a forward this month is a priority for Sean Dyche, with Igor Jesus carrying the workload up front.
Il Mattino says the player’s representatives are expected to meet Forest executives in the coming hours, and that a swap involving winger Dan Ndoye could be explored.
His former club Pisa are still hovering, while Benfica and Al Hilal have also been credited with an interest.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Forest’s proposal is the most lucrative for the player, and that, if approved, the deal would cost a €1 million (£870,000) loan fee with a €35m (£30m) option to buy.
Lucca is on loan at Napoli from Udinese, who are also reported to have an option, yet after one goal in 16 Serie A appearances and a single start since the end of October, an outright purchase there seems unlikely. The 25-year-old came through Torino’s youth ranks, broke through with Palermo in the third tier, joined Pisa in Serie B, then had spells with Ajax and Udinese before moving to Napoli last summer.
