Nottingham Forest ‘to sign’ record-breaking striker Michael Noonan, medical set for Wednesday | OneFootball

The Telegraph reports that Nottingham Forest are set to sign Shamrock Rovers striker Michael Noonan in January, with the 18-year-old due to undergo a medical on Wednesday.

He would join on a free transfer, with training compensation payable, and would bolster the academy.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton have been linked with Noonan in recent months, while Ajax and Benfica were also credited with interest.

Noonan began his senior career at St Patrick’s Athletic before moving to Shamrock Rovers in January 2025. He scored on debut the following month against Molde in the first leg of a UEFA Conference League play-off, becoming the competition’s youngest scorer at 16 years and 197 days. He was also thought to be the second youngest player to score in a UEFA main club competition.

He has represented the Republic of Ireland across youth age groups up to Under-21, and caught the eye at last year’s Under-17 World Cup.

It was a relatively quiet summer as Oliver Glasner added five signings, with a sixth, Gustavo Sa, loaned to Olympiacos.
