Erling Braut Haaland was furious that Manchester City failed to seal maximum points against Monaco in the second game of their Champions League campaign.

The Norwegian was at his destructive best on Wednesday night, scoring two superb goals in the first half.

He prodded home a delicious pass from Josko Gvardiol in the 15th minute before adding another by rising above the defence to send a bullet header into the goal.

However, Monaco’s late penalty ultimately secured a 2-2 draw. Haaland was scathing in his assessment of City’s performance.

“Of course, I don’t feel good,” he told TNT Sports. “We didn’t win. We did something unnecessarily in the second half, and I don’t think we played well enough, so we didn’t deserve to win.

“We needed more energy. We needed to get at them more.

“As we did in the first hour, we dominated, and now in the second half, they took the lead much more, and I don’t think it’s good enough.”

City came into Wednesday’s Champions League tie on the back of an emphatic 5-1 victory against Burnley in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side must sort out their defence if they want to win silverware this season.

They have not kept a clean sheet in three of their previous four matches in all competitions.

Rodri hasn’t been the same since returning from his knee injury, exposing defenders to more transitions and counter-attacks.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is an excellent goalkeeper, but he needs more support from the players ahead of him.
