FC Barcelona will soon be kicking off their first game of the season, and it comes with its own unique challenges. Away from home for this particular fixture, the Catalan giants will be facing off against Elche in their league opener.

However, Hansi Flick’s team will have to get a good result here with certain players being unavailable and others still needing some more time before they can start. Still, Flick has managed to start a dependable eleven players and here is the team’s official starting line-up.

In goal, Joan Garcia remains Barça’s first-choice goalkeeper and he will be tasked with keeping Elche at bay. Hopefully, the Spanish shot-stopper can make life difficult for the home side whenever they try to find the back of the net.

Ahead of him, a centre-back partnership of Andreas Christensen and Gerard Martin will be starting this game. Both players will need to have each other’s back while simultaneously ensuring that they can progress the ball forward.

On the flanks, Eric Garcia and Xavi Espart appear to be the players chosen to start as the two full-backs. Both of them will need to cover a lot of distance, while simultaneously helping out both offensively and defensively.

In the midfield, Marc Bernal and Gavi start together in the team’s double pivot and both players will have to ensure that Barça remains in control of proceedings. Moreover, they will look to generate chances for their forwards as well.

Right ahead of them, Fermin Lopez starts as the team’s central attacking midfielder. He will look to connect the team’s attack while presenting himself as a goal threat as well.

As for the attack, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Karim Adeyemi start this game as Barça’s attacking trident. It remains to be seen how Hansi Flick deploys them positionally, but this Barcelona attack promises a combination of trickery and pure pace.
