With Real Madrid getting hammered at the hands of Atletico Madrid on Saturday, FC Barcelona have an excellent shot at taking the top spot in the La Liga standings today, when they face Real Sociedad.
The Blaugrana are two points behind Xabi Alonso’s men, and a victory against La Real will take them to the top of the pile.
Ahead of the game at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, manager Hansi Flick has announced the squad list of players available at his disposal to take on the Basque club.
In a big update, Lamine Yamal has received the medical discharge, after recovering from his pubic discomfort, and is named in the squad for today’s match. The 18-year-old returns after missing the last four matches.
However, fellow La Masia graduate Alejandro Balde has not received the green light to return despite having trained with the group for most of this week.
Meanwhile, Marc Casado is fit and available for the match, which comes as a relief after he had left training early on Saturday due to some discomfort.
Gavi, Joan Garcia, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are all absent through injuries.
Diego Kochen has returned from the US Youth National Team squad at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile to rejoin the Barcelona squad following Joan Garcia’s injury.
Fellow youngsters Eder Aller, Toni Fernandez, Dro, and Roony Bardghji also make the squad list.
