This summer, the FC Bayern roster is undergoing significant changes—not only in the first team, but also among the amateurs and in the youth ranks. Now, another departure has been officially confirmed.

As the record champion confirmed on Saturday, young outside back Deniz Ofli will join Karlsruher SC in the 2. Bundesliga effective immediately.

He’s joining on loan. Recent reports indicated that KSC has secured an option to buy. However, FC Bayern is said to retain control through a buyback clause. The options were not explicitly mentioned in the record champion’s brief statement.

Ofli is moving to Karlsruhe

Ofli joined the youth academy of the German record champions in 2019, has since progressed through all the youth teams, and last season initially played 17 matches for the U19s before moving up to the amateur team.

He has also already made his debut with the first team: he played against Atalanta in the Champions League and against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Ofli is regarded internally as very talented, but due to the competition for his position, it does not currently look like he will see playing time with the first team.

The 19-year-old is a member of Turkey’s junior national team and is currently under contract with the record champions through the summer of 2028. He is one of the players expected to bring in at least a decent sum for FC Bayern in the future.

In Karlsruhe, they’re certainly looking forward to Ofli’s arrival. “Despite being only 19, Deniz has gained a lot of experience at the top level in FC Bayern’s youth system. In addition, as an integral part of the first-team training setup, he has already taken his first steps with the pros through his debuts in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. We’re looking forward to having a left back who is reliable defensively and strong in one-on-one situations,” explained Timon Pauls, Director of Professional Soccer.
