Watford FC officially announced on Thursday the signing of former AS Monaco player Krépin Diatta (27).
Having been a free agent since leaving The Rock this summer, the Senegalese player has signed a one-season contract with the Hornets, with an option for a further year.
Transferring to Monaco from Club Brugge in 2021, Diatta scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 143 appearances across all competitions. Initially playing as a winger, the Senegalese gradually moved further back on the pitch, finding himself playing as a right-back or even a wing-back.
With 65 caps for Les Lions de la Teranga, Diatta notably started and featured in each of the four matches played by the most recent Africa Cup of Nations finalists during the 2026 World Cup.
At 27, the Dakar-born player is now set to experience life in England and the Championship, where Watford hope to capitalise on his qualities and versatility to climb the table, with Alessio Dionisi’s side currently sitting 20th (out of 24) in the league.
