Pointers as to availability for this Brentford match and beyond.
Official Newcastle United injury update from Eddie Howe – 7 November 2025:
Eddie Howe said this about Anthony Gordon on Wednesday night, when he was subbed off on 41 minutes:
“I have not spoken to him and I have not really had a full run down from the medical team…but it seems like a reoccurrence of the hip injury that has been plaguing him in recent weeks. So we will assess that and see what damage has been done.”
Eddie Howe this Friday morning giving this update on Anthony Gordon:
“We don’t think it’s a serious injury. We’re going to get him scanned an we’re awaiting the results. There’s every chance he might miss out on Sunday but we’ll give him every opportunity to be fit.”
Eddie Howe said this about Will Osula on Wednesday night, Osula wasn’t amongst the subs despite having been named as one just over an hour before kick-off:
“We have been in discussions at length with him about his ankle in the last few days, as to whether he is fit enough to actually perform to the level that we need and he’s comfortable with. After a discussion, we felt it was best to withdraw him and try to get his ankle one hundred per cent right.”
Eddie Howe this Friday morning giving this update on Will Osula:
“It’s something he’s been feeling for a little bit but it’s been functional. He’s been able to train and play. It was getting to the stage when it was affecting him a little bit more. He had a scan and we were awaiting the results, tied in with the game, and the scan told us to pull back a bit. It’s not a serious injury, we expect it to be weeks, not any longer.”
As expected, Yoane Wissa not available for this Brentford match, Eddie Howe though giving this new update:
“He’s working well. He’s on the grass and he’s building his fitness. The knee is feeling good and there’s no problems with that. It’s more a case of looking at his fitness, sharpness, all the things he’s going to need to put together.
He’s in a good place to kick on and push his body. We need to give him time to get robust enough and be in a position to give his best for the team. I’m sure he’ll be worth the wait.”
Eddie Howe saying this about Lewis Hall who got his first minutes for a while on Wednesday night off the bench:
“He’s closer [to a return to the starting XI]. I thought it was a really good cameo from him. We have to remember he’s had very limited training time so I have to be careful with him. He’s very much in my thoughts because of the quality of player he is. He’s had a difficult period with injury. He’s such an important player and we need him fit for the long term.”
