With Lille OSC set to compete in next season’s UEFA Champions League, the club are already preparing for their upcoming European campaign. Whilst considerable doubts still remain concerning the future of Paulo Fonseca, as well as that of key players such as Leny Yoro, Jonathan David and even Edon Zhegrova, Ismaily’s (34) future at LOSC has been clarified.
The Brazilian left-back, who arrived at the Stade Pierre Mauroy from Shakhtar Donetsk in August 2022, has played 38 games in all competitions this season. Despite his age, Ismaily remains a key element of this Lille squad. However, his contract at the club was set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Les Dogues, in an official statement, confirmed that Ismaily has signed a one-year extension with the club, tying him to LOSC until the end of next season. Given LOSC’s marginally better goal difference (+2) compared to Stade Brestois, a win against OGC Nice on Sunday should suffice to guarantee the club’s podium spot and therefore a place in the group stage of next season’s Champions League.
