Olympique Lyonnais have announced this afternoon that an agreement has been found over the mutual termination of the contract of German goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck. The former Hamburg stopper is now free to move to a club without any transfer fee involved.
Pollersbeck signed for Lyon in 2020 from Hamburg for a fee of €250k and went on to make 11 appearances between the sticks for OL. Signed initially as a backup to Anthony Lopes, the former German U21 international joined Lorient on loan in January alongside Romain Faivre. Pollersbeck failed to make an appearance during his loan spell with Les Merluts.
Lyon are still well-stocked in the goalkeeping department with Lopes, Riou and Patouillet all available options for Blanc in goal. The club are yet to begin their transfer window dealings, after the appointment of new recruitment director Matthieu Louis-Jean from Marseille. He replaces Bruno Cheyrou, who has undertaken a new role within club president John Textor’s Eagle Football Group.
