AS Monaco have extended the contract of goalkeeper Jules Stawiecki (18). The France youth international’s latest deal runs until the summer of 2029.

There is currently uncertainty regarding the goalkeeping position at the Principality club. Neither Radoslaw Majecki nor Philipp Köhn have succeeded in holding down the No.1 role at the club. As a result, Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, has confirmed that the club will look to recruit a new goalkeeper this summer. Former Manchester United shotstopper David De Gea has been linked, as has Djordje Petrovic, who has excelled whilst on loan at RC Strasbourg Alsace from Chelsea.

However, whilst the short-term future between the sticks may be up in the air, there is a promising player coming through in the form of Stawiecki. The France U18 international is yet to make an appearance for Monaco’s first team, following the move from Dijon last summer, however, he has been in and around the first team set-up throughout the campaign. His long-term future is now secured, too, as he put pen to paper on a four-year deal.
