RB Leipzig have this morning announced their tenth summer arrival; Eintracht Frankfurt’s Christopher Lenz. The 28-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the club but an extension is possible should Lenz play a certain number of games this season.
“By signing Christopher Lenz we have managed to fill the last gap in our squad. He will be an important option for us at left-back. Chris has developed brilliantly over the past few years, has lots of experience and a great mentality,” said Max Eberl.
“He can play as part of both a back-four and a back-three/five. He’s good on the ball, covers lots of ground and wins a lot of tackles. On top of that, he’s a very clever defender. We now have at least two players for every position and do not need to bring any more players in.”
Signing for a reported €1m, Lenz will act as back-up to David Raum.
The 28-year-old also has a vast amount of experience. Lenz has played 93 games in the Bundesliga for Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt, creating 10 goals. He’s also played eight in games in Europe, all for Eintracht Frankfurt, and was a part of the squad that won the Europa League with the Hessen club, with the player scoring a crucial goal in the penalty shootout against Rangers.
