VfL Bochum have announced the signing of Noah Loosli from Swiss Super League club Grasshopper Club Zürich.
The 26-year-old central defender will join on a free transfer this summer. Bochum are still unsure which league they will be in next season but they’re already making transfers in order to strengthen the squad.
Loosli’s contract with the blue and whites will run until the summer of 2026.
The former Swiss youth international has spent his whole career in Switzerland and has played over 90 times for Grasshoppers.
Upon signing, Loosli released a statement saying: “It’s my first station abroad, which is a big step for me. But I trust myself. German football is closely followed in Switzerland, the quality of the Bundesliga is extremely high, even in the 2nd Bundesliga enormous. I’m really looking forward to VfL Bochum and the league, although of course, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that VfL stays in class.”
Bochum technical director Marc Lettau also released a statement on the club’s website: “We have observed Noah Loosli over a longer period of time and are convinced of his abilities. Noah has an exceptional willingness to perform and has continuously developed over the past few years. The fact that he decided to join our club at such an early stage is a strong signal.”
Following a 2-0 over the weekend, Bochum have climbed out of the relegations places and currently sit in 14th place. With just a couple of points separating the bottom five clubs, Bundesliga survival could come down to the last game of the season.
