OL Lyonnes move Lens home tie to protect Groupama Stadium pitch | OneFootball

OL Lyonnes will host RC Lens at their training centre rather than Groupama Stadium, a switch made to protect the stadium pitch.

According to Le Progres, the fixture, part of the 12th round of the Première Ligue féminine, is scheduled for Wednesday 14 January at 19:00 on the main pitch at the club’s training base, GOLTC.

Bad weather has not been kind to the Groupama Stadium surface. The club wants to preserve it before Brest’s Ligue 1 visit on 19 January and a possible replacement.

The game will be staged in a 1,500-seat venue where the Lyon side played before moving this season to Groupama Stadium to match their status.

Wendie Renard and her team-mates will therefore return to their former, smaller ground for the visit of the Lensoises. With a modest crowd expected midweek in winter, the choice may not be disadvantageous, as a vast arena might have felt very empty.
