Oliver Skipp joins Charlton on season-long loan as Leicester reshape midfield | OneFootball

Oliver Skipp has joined Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan for 2026/27, leaving Leicester City for the Championship.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the midfielder cost £20m when he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in 2024 after promotion to the Premier League, but he was part of two relegations and struggled for minutes under several managers.

He began the season in Russell Martin's midfield, then was sent off in a 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion. He missed the last three games as Louis Page established himself as City's first-choice No.6.

Skipp had also been linked with Middlesbrough and Preston North End. He will play under Nathan Jones at Charlton for the campaign.

Leicester moved to reshape midfield late in the window, with Hamza Choudhury joining Sheffield United and John Lundstram and Kamari Doyle coming in.

Lundstram, 32, has signed a two-year deal at the King Power Stadium on a free after leaving Trabzonspor in Türkiye. He helped Hull City win promotion to the Premier League last season after previous spells with Rangers and Sheffield United.

Doyle, 21, arrived on deadline day to bolster the attacking midfield options.

Defender Warren O'Hora is expected to join from Hibernian. He worked with Martin at MK Dons after signing from Brighton.
