Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed whether Omar Marmoush will travel to Norway for his side’s UEFA Champions League group-stage clash with Bodo/Glimt.

Marmoush suffered elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt courtesy of a 1-0 semi-final defeat at the hands of Senegal last week, with the 26-year-old also ending up on the losing side in the third-place fixture against Nigeria at the weekend.

Despite making a flying start to life at the Etihad Stadium in 2025, Marmoush has struggled for playing time this season, with Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku regularly occupying the wide attacking positions for Pep Guardiola since September 2025.

The recent signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth has only increased competition for places in attack for Manchester City, who have seen their £64 million winger score twice in his first three outings for his new club in the last 10 days.

Manchester City’s hopes for a fifth Premier League title in six seasons were handed a fresh blow on Saturday as goals from Bryan Mbuemo and Patrick Dorgu succumbed the Blues to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

City sit seven points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Wolves, with United inflicting a first defeat in 14 games in all competitions for a Guardiola side who are yet to taste victory in the league in 2026.

The Blues are missing a series of crucial players due to injury as they switch their focus to the UEFA Champions League, where they face Bodo/Glimt in their next group-stage clash in Norway on Tuesday evening.

Guardiola has much more options at his disposal in attack than he does in defence, with Manchester City expected to announce the signing of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace on Monday after the 25-year-old passed a medical on Sunday.

The goals have dried up for Manchester City this month, with Erling Haaland also visibly tired and in desperate need of help up top as the Blues vie for silverware on four fronts. Marmoush has been away at the Africa Cup of Nations since mid-December but will soon return to action for City after Egypt’s elimination.

Speaking in a press conference after Saturday’s derby loss at Old Trafford, Guardiola raised doubts over whether Marmoush will be available for City’s upcoming European trip.

“I don’t know if Omar (Marmoush) comes and Erling (Haaland) is going to play,” Guardiola said. “Erling is so important. We’ll see what happens next game. We have to travel to Norway, go there and we’ll see how they recover and I can smell how they feel and after continue.”

Guardiola is expected to shuffle his starting XI against Bodo/Glimt after a meagre Manchester City side put in one of their most embarrassing performances in just under a decade of being managed by the Catalan.
