According to L'Équipe, Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala should join Getafe on a straight loan without an option to buy. The La Liga side would cover a little over half of his wages, easing OL's finances this season.
The 28-year-old was due in Madrid on Thursday to undergo his medical, with only minor details still to be settled. The move is considered imminent.
Lyon have already brought in six players this summer, Boudache, Bidstrup, Duranville, Ouédraogo, Openda and Bucher. Attention has now turned to sales and trimming the wage bill.
Mangala is among the higher earners, on monthly terms close to captain Corentin Tolisso's, deals inherited from the John Textor era.
Getafe, who also have former Lyon man Martin Satriano, are in line to take him once the final points are agreed. Mangala arrived from Nottingham Forest in February 2024 and is contracted to OL until June 2028.
