Osmar Stabile repeats demand that SAFiel settle Neo Química Arena debt before he signs | OneFootball

Corinthians president Osmar Stabile has restated that SAFiel must settle the Neo Química Arena liabilities before he will sign a non-binding proposal. According to Meu Timao, he set out the stance while addressing members during a protest at Parque São Jorge on Saturday.

On Friday the group said it had accepted to build a new binding proposal publicly floated by Stabile. He has said he would sign that document and leave the presidency if the Arena debt is cleared.

Asked if the public challenge was a bluff, Stabile rejected that and insisted on immediate cash. He said he was ready to conclude the deal as soon as the condition is met.

To unlock talks he set an upfront payment of R$600 million to settle the Arena liability with Caixa as the trigger to sign the non-binding draft now with SAFiel. He added a negotiated figure could be around R$580-600 million.

In June, SAFiel tabled a non-binding plan to raise R$2.5 billion, potentially R$3 billion, for debt repayment, football investment and infrastructure. Stabile has stressed the need for immediate liquidity and dismissed moving ahead on promises alone.

Talks have entered a technical phase. An in-person meeting on Wednesday at Parque São Jorge lasted about four hours, after which vice-president Armando Mendonça called it positive but flagged legal doubts and sent 105 questions. Founder Eduardo Salusse said SAFiel were preparing responses within up to one week.

Any shift to a club-company model would also require changes to Corinthians’ statute, which currently has no provision for a SAF. Including such a pathway was discussed in a draft reform but rejected by the Deliberative Council.
