Raskin’s Clever Comment

Nico Raskin’s claim last night that a transfer from Rangers is out of the question is a very canny, rather clever, and slightly misleading comment from the Belgian international, who currently sits in a limbo with Rangers manager Russell Martin. Nico Raskin addresses Rangers transfer subject.

A History of Ambition

Raskin has categorically stated in the past more than once that he wants to leave Rangers, not explicitly, but by inferring categorically that Rangers were ‘just a step’ in his career. He has been very abundant that he wishes to play in the Premier League, especially Chelsea, and he made no bones about that fact more than once.

The Reality of Now

So, consequently, saying that a transfer is out of the question is not the ringing endorsement that Rangers fans would probably like to think that it actually is. He means that, factually, right now, because a transfer window is closed, a transfer is out of the question. He can’t move till January. It is as simple as that.

What January Could Bring

Because no decent offers came in for Raskin this summer that the club were willing to accept, the transfer of the former Liège man to elsewhere is now fundamentally impossible. The window has closed. Is a transfer impossible in January? That is a bit less unlikely. It is much more possible that Raskin will get the move that he probably wants now in January, because, factually, he cannot leave now.

The Morton Problem

The fact is that Raskin doesn’t like Russell Martin. To be fair, none of us do. But Russell Martin, for now, is the coach, and that is where common ground must be bridged. Consequently, the midfielder knows only too well that he is going to have to buck up his ideas and simply tolerate and accept the situation as it is.

Shop Window at Ibrox

If he is going to play for Rangers again, therefore getting into the shop window for the January transfer window, he must play. Rangers and Ibrox is a big window for players. It is a chance to get the big move to the big league. Hamza Igamane managed to do that. He handled it the way he handled it, and Rangers got the £11 million for a player who didn’t want to be here ever since January. Hamza got the move he craved to France. He got his dream. He is a very, very happy player, and Raskin will want to get the same for himself.

Common Ground Needed

But to do that, he will have to bridge common ground with Martin and sort out their fallout. So we will see what happens there as Nico Raskin addresses Rangers transfer subject.

Not What It Seems

But the fact of the matter remains that Raskin was very, very clever with his comments in saying that a transfer is out of the question. Because most fans will take that as saying that he wants to stay. It isn’t. It’s just factual.
