Signing Tyler Goodrham and Cameron Humphreys could give Plymouth Argyle the dream start to January.

Plymouth Argyle have started to turn a corner under Tom Cleverley, but will still be looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, as they look to recover from a poor first half of the season.

The Pilgrims were busy in the summer, with plenty of key departures leaving gaps to be plugged in the squad, some of which proved extremely difficult to fill, and the new-look squad has certainly taken its time to click into gear.

Injuries have really plagued Cleverley's chances of getting the Greens where he'd want them to be, but with crucial players now returning to the squad after lengthy stints on the sidelines, we're starting to see an upturn in results.

However, there is still room for improvement within the squad, particularly in attacking areas, which Cleverley revealed was an area he and new director of football Derek Adams will focus on this window.

With that in mind, Football League World looked into two attacking-minded players who could set Plymouth off to a perfect start to January.

Tyler Goodrham

Unfortunately for Argyle, injury troubles have reared their ugly head again, and have now affected a player who'd hit form in recent weeks, with on-loan Oxford United winger Owen Dale now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The 27-year-old impressed on the right flank in recent weeks whilst Xavier Amaechi and Caleb Watts were sidelined, but will now spend the next three months in the treatment room himself, having sustained a significant hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old is reportedly available for loan in January, having found game time hard to come by at the Kassam Stadium, and there will likely be a whole host of League One clubs chasing his signature.

Argyle should fight as hard as they can to secure the signing of Goodrham, who is a proven threat in the third tier, thanks to his excellent pace, strong work rate and technical ability, which is something they'll miss in Dale's absence.

The Oxford youngster will be champing at the bit to get some consistent minutes, and with a lethal striker like Lorent Tolaj to finish off the chances he creates, Home Park may be a very desirable destination for him.

Cameron Humphreys

Another area Argyle may look to add some reinforcement to this window is their attacking midfield. Usual selection Bradley Ibrahim is out long-term with an ankle injury, leaving Cleverley slightly thin on the ground in that area of the pitch.

One man who will likely be available for loan in the winter is Ipswich Town's Cameron Humphreys, who enjoyed a stellar loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers in League One last season, winning the club's Young Player of the Season award.

The midfielder made 47 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring seven goals and picking up six assists for the Buckinghamshire side, thriving in a more advanced role in the engine room.

Sadly for Humphreys, minutes have been difficult to come by at Portman Road this season, and the Tractor Boys will likely want to send him out on loan again, to not stall his development by means of not playing consistently.

The 22-year-old is best described as an energetic, nimble, and skillful attacking midfielder, who can wriggle his way past defenders and provide excellent supporting runs, which could cause absolute chaos with a player of Tolaj's calibre just ahead of him.
