Heerenveen beat FC Twente 1-0 at the Abe Lenstra Stadion to launch their Eredivisie season with three points.

In the 52nd minute Luca Oyen, on at the break, swept a left-footed finish into the bottom left after Jacob Trenskow's pass.

Heerenveen then lost Mats Egbring to injury (68.), before Bernt Klaverboer tipped away Max Bruns' goalbound header (73.) as FC Twente pressed.

Sam Kersten also departed injured (83.), and Klaverboer denied Robin Propper with another close-range stop (85.) amid a late aerial barrage.

FC Twente registered 19 attempts and forced eight corners as they pushed for an equaliser. Heerenveen made 39 clearances and produced four efforts on target from seven attempts.
