The €5.5 million tagged to half of Pablo García’s rights framed his late Real Betis exit, yet neither Betis nor Racing mentioned it. On 2 September, Racing sporting director Chema Aragón made clear their outlay does not match that number.
According to La Colina De Nervion, Betis finalised a permanent transfer, keeping a percentage of any future sale plus a matching option. Racing have taken the striker on a contract to June 2030.
That €5.5 million surfaced during the window’s finale and became the reference point. Aragón’s stance now separates it from what the clubs have actually confirmed.
He outlined a late pivot in the plan. An arrangement with Arsenal appeared close with Racing envisaged as a loan home, then deadline day turned it into a shared-ownership purchase.
On the finances he was unequivocal, the fee being paid is different, and he declined to disclose it.
Born in Seville on 13 June 2006, García rose through Betis’ ranks and scored in every club category. He made his LaLiga debut in January 2025.
On 25 August 2026 at Mestalla he came on and struck the opener against Valencia within four minutes, his first LaLiga goal. Days later his move to Santander was completed.
Betis list 33 senior appearances and three goals. Racing break that down as 21 in LaLiga, six in Europa League, two in Conference League and four in Copa del Rey, plus 38 games and 12 goals for Betis B. He has represented Spain from under-16 to under-21.
