Palmeiras have extended captain Gustavo Gómez’s contract until December 2030, the club announced on Monday morning.
The club said in a post that it thanked the Paraguayan, with the team since 2018, and looked ahead to the next phase of the partnership.
The captain’s previous deal ran until the end of next year, and the renewal had been in the works for weeks. After the 1-0 win over Cerro Porteño in Assunção last Wednesday, he said the signing was only a formality and that he always intended to remain.
Gómez was pivotal in securing a Libertadores quarter-final place, and at the weekend he was honoured with a fan mosaic at Nubank Parque before the match against Vasco.
Palmeiras also recently renewed Murilo, reinforcing the idea of keeping Abel Ferreira’s team’s spine together.
Gómez has featured in 40 of the club’s 48 matches in 2026. He is in line to start the next game, against Santos on Wednesday, the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals.
