Palmeiras have extended Murilo until the end of 2029 and are in talks to extend captain Gómez as they look to keep their core on long-term deals.

According to Globo.com, talks with the Paraguayan defender’s representatives are moving towards an agreement, with both sides indicating a desire to continue a relationship that began in 2018.

Only one squad member is out of contract in December, goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba. The 39-year-old has been renewing year by year, usually at the end of the season.

The longest deals run to 2030 for Carlos Miguel, Giay, Khellven, Piquerez, Jefté and Sosa.

A further group are tied down until 2029, including Bruno Fuchs, Benedetti, Arthur, Emiliano Martínez, Mauricio, Allan, Paulinho, Flaco López, Arias and Vitor Roque.

Shorter terms apply to players aged 30 or over, such as Gustavo Gómez, Barboza, Marlon Freitas, Lucas Evangelista, Andreas Pereira and Felipe Anderson. Even in this bracket, the contracts run to the end of 2027.

Palmeiras began reshaping the squad last year and have now assembled a spine for the coming seasons. The board have therefore opted to retain key names in this window rather than seek reinforcements.

That approach will continue until the window closes, with the club leading the Campeonato Brasileiro, into the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals and preparing for the Conmebol Libertadores round of 16.
