Palmeiras are to take Fortaleza to the Câmara Nacional de Resoluções de Disputa, CNRD, alleging non-payment linked to defender Gustavo Mancha. The club says 225,000 euros, around R$ 1.4 million, from the 30 percent of the player’s economic rights it retained during his loan has not been passed on.
ESPN reports that Fortaleza had previously paid 825,000 euros roughly a month late, with the amount due in November.
Palmeiras notified Fortaleza of the debt in December, extended the deadline by 40 days, and proposed instalments, but received no reply.
Fortaleza sold Gustavo Mancha to Olympiacos in August last year for R$ 28.3 million, transferring 85 percent of his rights and keeping 15 percent.
Palmeiras sold 30 percent and Fortaleza a further 55 percent. From the R$ 28.3 million, Fortaleza took R$ 19.8 million, while Palmeiras, which sold its entire stake, will receive R$ 8.4 million in total.
Beyond the disputed 225,000 euros, Palmeiras still have another 300,000 euros to collect from Fortaleza in the Mancha deal. The club has also yet to receive the first instalment relating to the pass-on from Breno Lopes’s sale from Fortaleza to Coritiba.
