Paredes nears his return and could get minutes against Austria

Leandro Paredes could get playing time again with the Argentina national team this Monday when Lionel Scaloni’s side face Austria in their second Group J match of the 2026 World Cup. The midfielder has recovered from the right hamstring injury he suffered before the start of the tournament and is now training normally with the rest of the squad.

After missing the warm-up friendlies and the opening win over Algeria, the Boca player comes in after several consecutive training sessions alongside his teammates and appears to be an option to get minutes in Dallas. The coaching staff will assess his progress over the next few days, although all signs point to him being back in contention.
