Paris Brunner's first two Ligue 1 goals sent Monaco top and led the team of the week for matchday two. Strasbourg winger Gessime Yassine also struck twice to headline the XI.

According to L'Équipe, Monaco provide the backbone with one player per line and the weekend's best average. After beating Marseille 2-0, Eric Dier anchored the defence and, from a goal kick, released the 20-year-old Brunner, while Lamine Camara impressed in what was expected to be his final Ligue 1 outing at Louis II. Brunner has been Monaco's breakout of the summer after two Europa Conference League goals.

Yassine's brace, aided by keeper Filip Jörgensen, toppled vice-champions Lens 2-1.

Angers forward Amine El-Ouazzani, on loan from Braga, was decisive at Auxerre, sealing a 3-1 win with a deft left-foot swivel after Rémy Labeau Lascary had levelled.

Algeria international Samir Chergui excelled at centre-back and scored in Paris FC's 3-0 defeat of Nice. Promoted Troyes triumphed 2-1 at Lorient, with coach Stéphane Dumont and right-back Lucas Maronnier, scorer of ESTAC's second, both included. Lille's Nabil Bentaleb stood out in the 2-2 draw with PSG and Le Mans wing-back Lucas Calodat tormented Rennes despite a 3-2 reversal.
