Parma midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi knocks Italy out of U-20 World Cup

Newly signed Parma midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi was at his best as his USA side knocked Italy out of U-20 World Cup, with the player himself scoring twice in a 3-0 win. This is the worst that Italy have performed recently in this competition, going out in the Round of 16 of this year’s edition which is being held in Chile. Two years ago in Argentina, Italy had reached the final, losing to Uruguay and in the two editions prior to that, they had finished third and fourth.

But the headlines here are about Cremaschi. The 20 year old has a valid claim of being the Player of the Tournament so far, with 5 goals and 2 assists, which see him leading the Golden Boot charts as well. It is interesting to note that the he has Italian citizenship as well. Cremaschi moved to Parma on loan from Inter Miami this summer, where he had some great moments playing with the likes of Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez. He’s yet to play a minute for Parma but that is expected to change soon.
