Rayo Vallecano are facing a tense stand-off after Pathé Ciss moved to force a transfer with one week left before the summer window closes. The Senegal international, influential in recent seasons, believes it is time to move on.
According to Superdeporte, the midfielder has proposals from Spain and abroad, notably from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. The club, chaired by Raúl Martín Presa, will only allow his exit if a team pays the 10 million clause.
On Monday, Ciss did not train with the rest of the squad, a pressure move aimed at unblocking what he considers a stalled situation.
Friction is not new, with previous windows bringing options that never came off. Now 32 and contracted until 2027, Ciss sees this as one of his last chances to land a major deal.
Rayo do not want to lose a cornerstone of their set-up so late in the window, but the midfielder seems intent on holding his ground until the final day.
What happens next could determine the end of a spell in Vallecas that looked secure only a few months ago.
