Paul Pogba has been left out of Monaco’s Champions League squad and continues his reconditioning, still hoping to play again in the medium term. According to L'Équipe, the 32-year-old has made three appearances this season.

The call was not unexpected, as he did not feature in the league phase. Monaco opted for the versatile Krépin Diatta, who covered for injured captain Denis Zakaria for two months in autumn.

Vanderson needs cover on the right and Jordan Teze has been filling gaps elsewhere. Pogba is also unlikely to be ready for the PSG tie, with the first leg on 17 and the return on 25.

Thiago Scuro said the medical staff are focused on getting him back, but there is no clear timeline and the club is wary of setting expectations.

After more than two years out at the top level, there are few comparable comebacks, and coach Sébastien Pocognoli says only that Pogba is working hard to rejoin training.

He continues to offer discreet guidance in the dressing room and is seen as a positive influence. His celebration of Ansu Fati’s goal in the 4-0 win over Rennes suggested he remains engaged from his box at Louis-II.

With finances precarious under UEFA’s financial fair play, Scuro said in mid-January that either Pogba returns and makes an impact or, if not, both parties could revisit matters next summer. No meeting has since taken place.
