PEC Zwolle have brought former player Ryan Thomas back to the club on a free transfer, giving him a one-year contract.
Thomas joined PSV in 2019 after impressing in a five-year stay at PEC Zwolle, but things didn’t go as well as he would have hoped with the Dutch giants.
The midfielder made just 33 league appearances in four years in Eindhoven, struggling to secure a spot in the starting XI and picking up a number of injuries.
It therefore wasn’t a surprise when, suffering from one of those injuries, he left the club on a free transfer this summer having not played in a year.
Since then, he has been working hard to get fit again and, making progress in that department, has rejoined PEC Zwolle for the remainder of the season.
It’s hoped that he’ll be fit enough to play before the end of the calendar year and will be bale to play a significant role in the club’s quest to win promotion back to the Eredivisie.
“At PEC Zwolle I experienced the best days of my football career, but not only that, I owe a lot to this club,” he said.
“After a very nice period in Eindhoven with ups and downs, I feel stronger than ever and I’m really looking forward to playing football again.”
