Pellegrino and Mastantuono bond over legendary Fiorentina icon Batistuta | OneFootball

Mateo Pellegrino has completed his move to Fiorentina from Parma this evening, linking up with fellow Argentine Franco Mastantuono and citing Gabriel Batistuta as a touchstone.

The deal is reportedly worth €24.5m including add-ons. Pellegrino, who turns 25 in October, arrived in Serie A from Vélez Sarsfield in February 2025 and produced 15 goals and two assists in 52 games for the Ducali. He said he was proud to join and eager to get started, speaking to the club's official website.

He described Viola Park as impressive and said he cannot wait to begin.

He added that Mastantuono, on loan from Real Madrid, messaged him when rumours emerged and the pair have already been in touch.

Aware of Fiorentina's Argentine lineage, he highlighted Batistuta and said that if he can achieve even a small part of the striker's feats in Florence, that would be welcome.

He pointed to the club's history and the calibre of players who have passed through as reasons for choosing the Viola, noting that interest from Fiorentina made him happy and convinced him to come.

Pellegrino wants to score more, keep improving as a person and a player, and help the team reach the maximum. He will wear number 32, the first shirt he had on his professional debut.
