Pep Guardiola ready to use woeful Liverpool form and STEAL £65m star

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to take advantage of Liverpool's slip in form to steal a £65m star from under their noses. Not what the Reds wanted to hear.

Liverpool shopped at the top table throughout the summer, taking advantage of their dominant Premier League title win. When they wanted Florian Wirtz, they got Florian Wirtz - despite the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester City pushing hard to get him.

But things might not go so smoothly in the winter. Liverpool will almost certainly re-enter the transfer market but their reason for doing that is the reason why it might be a struggle.

The Reds' form has been rotten, with six defeats in their last seven Premier League games. They've dropped out of title contention already, quite honestly, and they no longer look like a team on the up.

It's been a ridiculous turnaround in fortune and naturally, that's going to hurt you in the transfer market. Manchester City appear ready to take advantage of that, too, as they prepare to battle for one of the Premier League's most in-demand talents.

Pep Guardiola eyes Antoine Semenyo

Talksport reports that Pep Guardiola is ready to move on a new winger in the winter should he ultimately decide his team needs more firepower. Antoine Semenyo would be the pick, who has a £65m release clause in his Bournemouth contract.

Semenyo, though, is also on Liverpool's shopping list. Bournemouth fully expect to receive offers in January, per the Telegraph, presumably for the release clause.

It's sounding more and more like both Liverpool and City will try to get a deal done. And unlike the summer, the Reds aren't bidding from a position of strength - something that makes it very difficult to battle City.

Not positive news, then, that it could be a straight fight between the two. Liverpool could really use Semenyo as an addition to their forward line, offering both depth and a potential successor to Mo Salah.

We'll see how this one goes, then, but it's clear things won't be straightforward if the Reds truly do decide to go for the winger.
