Lazio striker Petar Ratkov is reportedly closing in on a move to LaLiga side Levante, an initial loan with an option to buy before Tuesday’s deadline.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports the switch can be considered a done deal, with agreement between player and clubs on a €1m loan and a €14m purchase option. La Lazio Siamo Noi says Levante are very close, although Sevilla still have a chance if they accelerate.
Sporting director Angelo Fabiani had high hopes for the 23-year-old, identified in January as Taty Castellanos’s replacement. Yet Maurizio Sarri was said not to have known the former RB Salzburg forward, and Gennaro Gattuso does not see him fitting his system.
Ratkov rejected Dynamo Moscow and Southampton earlier in the summer, then opened up to LaLiga. Sevilla made the first serious enquiry, shifted attention to Conrad Harder, then revived interest with the Dane set for Strasbourg, but Levante had already advanced talks.
Ratkov has been left out of Lazio’s squad to face Genoa on Sunday, so he will not feature. As things stand, he is set to depart without scoring an official goal for the club.
