As reported via FT, Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Philipp Max is set to sign for Greek side Panathinaikos.
It had recently been reported that the former German international had informed Die Adler of his decision to leave the club.
With Niels Nkounkou and Nathaniel Brown ahead of him in Dino Toppmöller’s squad, the 30-year-old believes his future no longer lies at the Deutsche-Bank-Park.
As stated in the report, it is understood that Max will travel to Greece today in order to finalise a move, but as of yet, it is unknown whether the two clubs have agreed on a loan or a permanent transfer for the left-back.
From Panathinaikos’ perspective, this transfer is a massive coup for the club, with Max being a former German international and being valued at €20 million just a few years ago.
The Greek outfit were keen on luring Dimitrios Giannoulis to the club earlier on in the transfer window, but the former Norwich City left-back elected to sign for Max’s former side, Augsburg.
