Pierre Sage ‘to stay’ at Lens next season and play in the Champions League

Pierre Sage says he will remain RC Lens head coach next season and take the club into the Champions League. Asked in a yes or no format if he would stay, he replied, “yes”, speaking to Téléfoot.

Lens finished second in Ligue 1 behind Paris SG and lifted the Coupe de France after a 3-1 win over Nice.

The former Lyon coach, 47, has seen his stock rise after a debut campaign that exceeded expectations in Artois, including the club’s first Coupe de France title.

He said he has had many contacts and admitted he dreams of managing Liverpool one day.

Lens are braced for summer departures. Malang Sarr is out of contract, while Samson Baidoo, Mamadou Sangaré and Allan Saint-Maximin could also leave.
