The R's defeated Championship leaders Coventry City 2-1 on Saturday, leaving them just four points adrift of the play-off places with 16 league fixtures remaining.

Julien Stephan's men have utilised the transfer window to sign defender Ronnie Edwards and striker Justin Obikwu from Southampton and Coventry, respectively.

Meanwhile, Murphy Cooper, Alfie Lloyd, and Liam Morrison have all left QPR on loan, whereas Michael Frey has completed a permanent move to Swiss outfit Grasshopper.

Stephan's men will be keen to earn their second consecutive Championship win when they face London rivals Charlton Athletic at The Valley this Friday.

Meanwhile, ahead of the transfer deadline, young defender Rocco Friel is set to leave Loftus Road to complete another loan move to Scotland, according to West London Sport.

The 19-year-old joined QPR from Hearts in the summer of 2024, but is yet to make a senior appearance for Stephan's men, instead spending the first half of this season on loan at Scottish Championship club Queen's Park.

Friel scored one goal in 12 appearances for Sean Crighton's men and is now set to make yet another loan move to a club north of the border, although any loan deal could also include the option of a permanent transfer in the future.

QPR exit is the best option for Rocco Friel

Friel has represented Scotland at youth international level, but QPR appear better off parting company with his services.

Meanwhile, Stephan has given first-team minutes to other young players such as attacker Rayan Kolli, who recently proved his worth by scoring a brace in his side's 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship in early January.

However, Friel, who operates as a right-back, has been deemed surplus to requirements at Loftus Road, hence his loan move to Queen's Park.

Furthermore, the fact that the teenager has made just three starts in the Scottish Championship this season suggests that he is not ready to make a positive impact in West London.

Meanwhile, the R's can bolster their play-off chances by earning victories in their upcoming clashes with Charlton, Blackburn Rovers, and Hull City.

Earning a victory over Hull, who are in the automatic promotion race, would prove that Stephan's side may have what it takes to finish in the play-offs.
