Players to wear both Real Madrid and Real Sociedad shirts | OneFootball

From the 1930s onwards, several footballers represented both Real Madrid and Real Sociedad. AS highlights careers bridging Donostia and the capital.

Manuel Olivares Lapeña hit 74 for Madrid from 1931 to 1934, winning the 1932 and 1933 leagues and the 1934 Copa de España, then added goals for Donostia. Juan Antonio Ipiña anchored Donostia, later captained Madrid to two Copas de España and the Copa Eva Duarte.

Sabino Barinaga scored 93 for Madrid and netted the first goal at the Santiago Bernabéu in 1947, before managing 29 in 67 for Real Sociedad. José María Querejeta made 107 appearances for Real Sociedad, then 72 for Madrid, winning the 1946 and 1947 Copas del Generalísimo.

Marcial Arbiza struck 17 in 19 for Madrid, then 13 in 33 for Real Sociedad, while Fernando Fernández Berridi played 72 times for Real Sociedad before a 1944-45 spell at Madrid. Mariano Terán, Terán II, later lifted two Copas del Generalísimo and a Copa Eva Duarte with Madrid. Rafael Alsúa, Alsúa II, spent 1943-44 at Madrid, then returned to Real Sociedad across two spells.

Goalkeeper Juan Bagur played 204 games for Real Sociedad, then joined Madrid in 1959-60, making four appearances as the club won the European Cup and Intercontinental Cup. Jesús Chus Herrera featured 44 times for Madrid, part of the 1959 and 1960 European Cup wins though he did not play the finals, then had a brief loan at Real Sociedad in 1962 before his death, aged 24.
