Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has provided an insight into the reasoning behind his dour expression during Spanish national team training late this week.

This comes after the youngster grabbed the media headlines in his home country.

Winger Lamine was a 2nd-half substitute this past Monday, as Spain were held to a hugely disappointing opening day draw by Cabo Verde at the World Cup.

Post-match, speculation was rampant that the 18-year-old was left angered by his role in the fixture, feeling fully fit and ready to start following a recent spell on the sidelines.

Upon Lamine being spotted looking down and off colour during training on Friday, rumours surrounding potential discontent therefore spread like wildfire.

Safe to say, however, that the truth of the matter is altogether less serious, and more amusing…

Drawn on his training ground expression during an exchange with the media this weekend, Lamine assured:

“My serious mood in training yesterday? I played video games all night! I was just feeling sleepy (laughs).”
