Plymouth Argyle hosted Michael Duff's Wycombe Wanderers in their final match of 2025.
Plymouth Argyle denied Wycombe Wanderers all three points with a 94th minute header from substitute Bim Pepple.
Wycombe started the brighter of the two sides and were rewarded just after 10 minutes when Dan Casey darted into the box and headed home Jack Grimmer's pinpoint cross.
The contest became scrappy after the goal, with Plymouth struggling to play the way they wanted to, as their opponents broke the game well, which saw them preserve their lead into half-time.
Plymouth had the best of the chances in the second half, and were finally rewarded in the 94th minute when Bim Pepple headed home the equaliser from a Matty Sorinola corner to send Home Park wild, and earn the Greens a well-deserved point.
The first opportunity of the match came for the away side. A long ball forward was knocked down by Cauley Woodrow, and rifled goalward by Luke Leahy from the edge of the box. The effort was way too high though, and sailed into the Devonport End.
Wycombe started very brightly, and got a deserved goal when two defenders linked up with a textbook routine. Grimmer's cross to the far post was crashed home by Casey just after the 10-minute mark.
Wanderers almost doubled their advantage via Woodrow with 10 minutes to play until half-time. Sam Bell's low cross was flicked towards goal by the Luton Town loanee, but Conor Hazard was on hand to divert it over the bar.
Bizarrely, three substitutions had to be made in the first half, with Owen Oseni for Argyle, and Jamie Mullins and Ewan Henderson for Wycombe having to be withdrawn due to injuries, which led to eight minutes being added on.
The Chairboys saw out the first half to take their 1-0 lead into the break. They'd been the better side, but Argyle were frustrated at how bitty the game had become, and needed to respond in the second 45 minutes.
Argyle started the second half better, and had a chance to get back on level terms through Julio Pleguezuelo. The defender was unmarked at the back post from a deep corner, but scuffed his effort straight into the arms of Will Norris.
The Chairboys then came within inches of giving their opponents a mountain to climb. Substitute Caolon Boyd-Munce curled one just wide of the far post, which had Hazard scrambling.
It was an end-to-end contest, and Home Park was almost sent into raptures when Bali Mumba found space 25-yards from goal. He lashed a fierce effort at goal, which smashed off the crossbar and behind for a goal kick.
Mumba again tested Norris with 25 minutes to go, after Lorent Tolaj found him with a defence-splitting pass out to the left. The winger cut inside and shot, but could only sting the palms of the Wycombe keeper.
The Greens really ramped up the pressure in the closing stages. Xavier Amaechi curled a beautiful strike towards the bottom left corner, which Norris managed to get his fingertips to.
The resulting corner came to an unmarked Pleguezuelo at the back post again, but once again, Norris was there to deny him with a stunning reaction save, tipping the effort over the crossbar.
Tom Cleverley threw the kitchen sink at it to try and earn his side a point, sending Alex Mitchell forward in the last 10 minutes to counter the addition of an extra defender for Wycombe.
When it looked like it wasn't going to be Plymouth's night, substitute Pepple stepped up in the 94th minute to head home a corner, giving the away side an equaliser right at the death, earning them a well-deserved point.

There were 15,766 fans present at a chilly Home Park on Monday evening, with 385 making the trip down from Wycombe.

Speaking to The Herald Series after the match, Plymouth head coach Tom Cleverley said: “I thought Wycombe sustained a level throughout the game that we fell below in the first half.
“It’s my job to find out the reasons why that is and make sure that is something we don’t see again.
“In the second half we were clearly above their level and if the game had gone on for another five minutes I think we would have gone on to win.
“We had three first half shots, zero on target, 13 second half shots, five on target.
“There was no beating around the bush, we know what’s needed now and we are in a position we don’t want to be.
“So it was (the) complete opposite of what we saw in the first half and the players reacted very well.
“We let them off the hook first half, second half we put that right. Second half I thought there was only one team that was going on to win
it.”

Also speaking to The Herald Series post match, Wycombe head coach Michael Duff said: “We are ninth but only three points above the bottom four so it is tight and that’s the disappointment from today, a win would have put us six points clear.
“It was a good away performance, we totally dominated the first 20 minutes.
“I have been here a lot and it was the quietest I’ve ever heard it. I thought we were in total control and scored a good goal.
“Then it got a bit scrappy and they had injuries, we had injuries and it went a bit bitty.
“It sort of got the crowd involved then but for all their territory I can’t remember Will (Norris) making any type of save at all.
“And in the second half they had territory but I thought we had some really good moments on the counter-attack that we didn’t quite take.
“We had 13 shots and only one on target is disappointing.”
