Police messages raise suspicion over David in Espírito Santo inquiry | OneFootball

Messages recovered by Espírito Santo’s Civil Police have become central to an inquiry that placed Vasco forward David Corrêa among the targets of Operação "A Tropa". According to Globo.com, DHPP chief Rodrigo Sandi Mori said three conversations analysed by investigators raised suspicion of a possible link between the player and the group under scrutiny.

Launched on Monday, the operation examines a criminal organisation suspected of drug trafficking, arms trafficking and money laundering. David was served with a search-and-seizure warrant in Rio de Janeiro, and Vila Nova player Hayner William Monjardim Cordeiro was also targeted.

The exchanges were found after a phone seized during an attempted homicide case in Serra was examined. Investigators then cross-referenced the material to identify possible connections between those mentioned.

In one chat, Júnior relayed details to David about a victim of attempted homicide, including the alleged motive and the victim’s condition, and the reply attributed to the player said the victim deserved to be shot. In another, after Júnior sent a pistol photo, the response suggested killing someone to test the situation. A third concerned a vehicle deal, with Juan asking Júnior to broker a loan from David to swap a Fiat Argo that was allegedly used in an attempted killing and deemed burnt.

Sandi Mori said the content led police to consider whether David could be connected to financing drug trafficking in the region. David has been questioned, acknowledging he knows people cited in the case, while denying involvement with drugs or weapons. André Cury also said he has no ties to organised crime. The case is under seal and, to date, David has faced a search-and-seizure warrant, not arrest.
