On 20 May, Northumbria Police issued images of seven men they want to trace as part of an investigation into disorder in Newcastle city centre after the Newcastle United v Sunderland derby at St James’ Park on Sunday 22 March.

Sunderland won 2-1. According to Sunderland Echo, videos posted on social media appeared to show incidents of disorder, including aggressive behaviour, objects thrown in crowded areas and damage to property. Those pictured are thought to have been in the area and may hold information.

The men, or anyone who recognises them, are asked to contact Northumbria Police via direct message on social media, the live chat or report forms on the force website, or by calling 101 and quoting NP-20260322-0216.

Police had a proportionate plan in place on the day, three arrests were made, and the event passed largely without incident.

Those involved were understood to have subsequently left the area.
