After Cristiano Ronaldo issued a statement that he is leaving the Portugal squad, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) took to social media to confirm that their star player will not be available to Jorge Jesus, having decided to leave the training camp in Scandinavia.
"The FPF informs that Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has left the national team camp, which is taking place in Copenhagen. Preparation for the matches against Denmark and Norway, the latter to be played at the Estádio do Dragão, will continue as planned, with the other 24 players called up,” a statement said.
“The entire delegation remains fully focused on the National Team’s upcoming fixtures and on achieving the set objectives," they also stressed.
Ronaldo played 67 minutes against Wales at the start of the current international while he remained on the bench against Norway.
Portugal, who are top of Group 4 after two games, will take on Denmark on Thursday evening before welcoming Norway on Sunday.
