Portuguese star looking for a Barcelona move has a special clause that may hinder his exit | OneFootball

The future of Joao Felix has been a subject of much discussion in recent weeks, especially in light of his blazing performances for both club and country.

It has also been reported that Felix is keen on returning to Europe now, with Barcelona emerging as one of his desired destinations.

The forward remains a huge fan of Barcelona and much like his compatriot Joao Cancelo, he is keen on making the return to Camp Nou.

According to Diario SPORT, Felix’s bid to leave Al Nassr could get complicated due to a special clause in his contract at the club.

Although his current contract at Al Nassr expires in 2027, the clause effectively allows the club to extend it further without needing the signature of Felix.

This is subject to certain conditions being met, which were signed by the player at the time. This clause is dependent on multiple factors such as financial compensation and activation period, among other things.

Felix, for his part, has made it clear that he is unhappy at Al Nassr and was planning to leave only after the end of his contract. But with Al Nassr having an option to prolong his stay, it will be interesting to see how things unfold.

Barcelona remain an option

The report reiterates that rejoining Barcelona is one of Felix’s priorities, with his agent Jorge Mendes also sounding out the player’s interest to the club.

For now, Barcelona are not actively looking into the possibility of his return. Attacking reinforcements is not the club’s priority at the moment.

However, it will be hard to ignore Felix’s performances at Al Nassr, as he has already scored 30 goals and was voted the best player in the Saudi league last season.

Felix’s performances for the Portugal national team has been equally impressive in this international break, so it will be interesting to see how Deco and co. evaluate the possibility of bringing back the former Atletico Madrid star to Catalonia in the near future.
