Sunderland are riding high after a 2-1 comeback at St James’ Park, completing a Wear-Tyne league double and reaching 43 points with seven games left. According to Sunderland Echo, with relegation distant and an outside chance of Europe, focus is turning to targeted summer business.
Anthony Gordon put Newcastle ahead, before Chemsdine Talbi and Brian Brobbey turned the derby on its head.
With a solid defence lacking depth and an attack short on consistent output, X’s AI chatbot, Grok, was tasked with forecasting possible moves.
Grok suggests Armand Lauriente from Sassuolo for about £18 million, adding pace, dribbling and goals from wide. Charlie Cresswell of Toulouse, at roughly £12 million, could bolster centre-back options with his aerial strength and composure. Grok also points to a record outlay near £35 million on FC Porto forward Samu Aghehowa, to provide the striking punch alongside Brobbey.
Potential exits flagged include Reinildo Mandava for about £8 million, freeing wages and refreshing full-back options. Abdoullah Ba, valued around £2.5 million, could move for regular minutes, with the Championship mentioned as a plausible step. Captain Luke O’Nien is also named, a £3 million departure mooted given a reduced role despite contract security to 2027 with a club option.
