Newcastle United host Leeds United at St James’ Park on Wednesday night, with both sides looking to build momentum at a pivotal stage of the season.
The Magpies are aiming to extend their recent Premier League winning streak, having beaten Burnley and Crystal Palace in consecutive fixtures. Eddie Howe’s side have accumulated 29 points so far this season and currently sits ninth in the table.
They head into the match against Leeds just five points behind second‑placed Chelsea and could leapfrog the Blues with a victory tomorrow evening. Newcastle face a demanding schedule in the weeks ahead, competing across four competitions, including the EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester City and Champions League ties with PSV Eindhoven and Paris Saint-Germain.
Howe’s men have won just one of their last seven matches against Leeds, who are unbeaten in their last seven encounters with the Magpies. Newcastle will be without William Osula and Dan Burn due to injury.
Leeds United arrive in decent form, remaining unbeaten in their last eight matches since a 3‑2 loss to Manchester City in November. They come off a hard-fought 1‑1 draw with Manchester United and will be without Daniel James and Joe Rodon.
The most recent meeting between the two sides ended in a 2‑2 draw at Elland Road in September. Leeds remain the last promoted side to beat Newcastle at St James’ Park, with their most recent victory there coming in 2021.
The game will not be broadcast on TV in the UK, however viewers can watch on the Sky Go app or via NOW TV.
